Clinical Counselling
Clinical counselling at The Morrow Clinic is private, practical, and paced by you. Ruth Neufeld works with stress, burnout, sleep, and life transitions in the quietest room in the building. Sessions are 50 minutes, GST-exempt, and covered by many extended health plans.
Counselling here does not require a crisis. Most people who sit in Ruth's chairs are managing: a load that grew gradually, a sleep pattern that fell apart, a season of life that asks more than it gives back. Managing is exactly the right time to come.
The first session is for the fit. You talk about what brought you in, Ruth explains how she works, and together you decide whether to continue. In a town the size of Heron Reach, confidentiality is not a policy statement, it is the whole practice. What happens in that room stays there.
Sessions are available in person or by secure video, and the video option is not the lesser one: some things are easier to say from your own kitchen table.

What to expect
The first session
Fifty minutes, mostly you talking, no forms mid-conversation. It ends with an honest read on fit and a suggestion for what working together could look like.
The approach
Grounded in cognitive behavioural and acceptance and commitment therapies, applied like tools rather than scripts. You set the direction; Ruth keeps the map.
The pace
Weekly, biweekly, or as-needed. Some people come for six sessions, some for a season. Both are done right.

Asked often
Is counselling covered by my plan?
Many BC extended health plans cover Registered Clinical Counsellors; check your plan for 'RCC' or 'counselling' coverage. Counselling is GST-exempt. We provide receipts for reimbursement and can direct bill some insurers.
Will anyone know I am coming?
The booking system shows your appointments only to the practitioners involved in your care. Ruth's room has its own entrance off the side hall. Small-town privacy is something we designed for, not an afterthought.
What if it is not a fit?
Then Ruth says so, kindly and early, and helps you find someone better suited. A first session that ends in a good referral is a success, not a failure.
